What a lovely service for a truly lovely man. Graeme was kind, charming and affable - always ready with a good natured quip that could disarm anyone. In the walking photo it's great to see his trademark cheery grin - and redundant map - in front of 'his' lake - the eponymous Loweswater. I've added a picture of him at the Argos fancy dress Xmas party in 1991 - getting into the spirit of things as usual.

Dean Farm Lane is emptier without your daily greet and generous smile. Your patient wait for every one of Slo Mo's sniff and stopover meant you never really moved! I miss you every day on my walk. Take care until we meet again. Amjid.

As his wife of 35 years, Graeme’s sudden loss is devastating and the most difficult thing I have ever experienced. He was a lovely, lovely man, the kindest, most generous and fun person and we had a wonderful life together. I have to take comfort from the many happy memories I have but nothing can replace him. Graeme always encouraged me to follow my passion of horses while he followed his of walking and Newcastle United - it’s what made our marriage a success. I’m so grateful for the support from our family and friends, helping me with so many things - you’ve all been amazing and I know Graeme would be so happy that so many people are able to help. Zoe, Liz, Helen, Stuart, Jane and all of the family are very sad at losing Graeme so soon - it’s been a terrible time but we’ll get through it by helping each other and all of your support. We have to look forward and planning the Celebration of Graeme’s life on 14 August will help us to do that. I hope to see lots of our family and friends there.

So many family and friends have helped out in the past few weeks. Too many people to list them all (which is lovely), but I’m very grateful for the following: helping me with the funeral arrangements, sorting out the house, looking after the dogs (Mo and Hunni) and Jessie the pony, taxi service, cakes, car sales, garage clearance, gardening, a necklace, candles and bath salts, flowers, pest control, communications, a beautiful tribute in the NUFC programme, loads of comfort and support, and a chicken and ham pie! Thank you to everyone for this and the many lovely cards and messages.
